Hancock

Constructed in 1940, this Hyde Park colonial and backyard guest house had not been touched since the 60’s. A full gut and update was in order to modernize yet retain many of the original finishes. Modern West Texas meets traditional, a tall order indeed. The front dormer was completely reconstructed to correct the architectural atheistic of the facade, marred by a 80’s bay window. The client and I hunted for months for the same flamed granite used on the historic Texas State Capitol building. These are the collaborative moments that make design so enjoyable.
